My work uses reversible covalent chemistries to create tunable, viscoelastic hydrogels. Due to the wide range of kinetics associated with reversible covalent chemistries, there remains a lack of insight into how these kinetics impact the resulting material properties. My inital work into this system uses the reversible thia-conjugate addition that is included in the TORC bonds of IRG1. Viscoelastic hydrogels have promise for applications in biomaterials, including injectable hydrogels, tissue engineering, and 3-D printing.
