My name is Alan Quinones, originally from El Paso, Texas, currently teaching Science and STEM at Harmony Science Academy in Austin. Over six years, I've worked primarily with English Language Learners, many of whom are newly arrived in the country, and I've learned that grounding lessons in real-world examples is what bridges the gap. I hold a Master's in Psychology Counseling from Webster University's Leiden Campus in the Netherlands and am
currently working toward my LPC. Teaching across PE, Math, English, and Science has shaped how I think about learning, connecting disciplines rather than isolating them. My interest in research goes back to undergrad, where I worked in a civil engineering lab testing simulated Martian soil for compaction and stress capacity to inform future projects on Mars. That experience stuck with me and is part of what draws me to the RET program at UT Austin. I want to bring that research mindset back into my classroom in a way that's real and relevant for my students.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, drawing, 3D printing, and sports. Soccer, basketball, and volleyball are my main loves. My teams are Chelsea FC, the San Antonio Spurs, Austin LOVB, and the New England Patriots. And through every heartbreak, I remain a loyal UTEP fan.
