As an elementary science teacher, I am thrilled to be part of the movement to develop STEM curriculum. STEM education is more important than ever, as our world becomes increasingly complex and technologically driven.
I have been teaching for 11 years as an elementary teacher and this year I was gifted with the opportunity to facilitate a science lab with a STEM approach in Spring ISD at the international school at Salyers. Within the last 7 years I have been a participant in various programs geared toward STEM education such as, Destination Imagination, Odyssey of the Mind and Engineering is Elementary. These programs incited my passion for teaching creative problem solving and critical thinking skills that inspires students to be lifelong learners. I also enjoy traveling and teaching across cultures and curriculums. My main goal as a professional is to complete my master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and eventually become a Curriculum Specialist. I am delighted to learn and grow as an educator through the RET program. By introducing students to STEM concepts at a young age, we can help them develop the critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century. I am excited to work with my colleagues to create engaging, hands-on lessons that will inspire students to explore the wonders of science and technology, and to pursue their passions in these fields.
