My name is Karina Méndez Pérez, and I am excited to participate in the RET program this year. I have taught 3rd grade dual language, but this upcoming school year I will be a 2nd grade Dual Language teacher at St. Elmo Elementary in Austin ISD. Science and math are two subjects I have deeply enjoyed teaching to students and demonstrating the ways in which their language practices are essential in the learning of those two subjects. I am excited to incorporate what I will be learning from the lab work I will be doing into my classroom.
