2019 Fall Dates for MRSEC Students/Post-Docs

August 28, 12-2pm, EERC Mulva Foyer, Celebration of the MRSEC 1st Birthday with cupcakes (goal to raise awareness of the MRSEC and its programs/research)

*September 19, 11:30-1pm, Aprille Busch, Southwest Innovation-Corps (I-Corps), and Ariel Kayne, Texas Venture Labs (McCombs School) provide resources/practices to spurn innovation among scientists and engineers. EER 3.646. Lunch served. (Entrepreneurial Greenhouse)

+October 8, 11:45-1:15pm, EER 3.646, Role Models Matter Workshop for K-12 mentoring/outreach. Lunch provided!

*October 17, 9:00-6:30, Industry Day, EERC Mulva Auditorium (Industry University Nexus)

November 7 (location TBD), SLC to organize a MRSEC center-wide social for students and post-docs

*November (date TBD), student orientation

*Attendance at these events is required for MRSEC students/post-docs. 

+This workshop is designed to share best practices in working with the K-12 community and is a requirement for all MRSEC students/post-docs to complete before volunteering for outreach events. After completion of this workshop and 5 hours of outreach service, you will receive a K-12 Outreach Certificate.

March 28, 9:30-10:30am, EER 3.646, Resume/CV Writing Workshop presented by Michael Powell, Director of the Engineering Career Center

April 4, 11:30-1pm, EER 3.640/3.642 Bias Busting Workshop for MRSEC students and post-docs. Lunch provided.

April 4, 5:00-8:00 pm, Student Leadership Council to organize a MRSEC social with food/drinks (Trudy's Texas Star) RSVP through this link

April 26, 9:30-10:30am, NHB 1.720, Prof. Keith Nelson (MIT) presents a thematic talk around IRG 2 topics. Light refreshments served.

May 14, 9:00am-3:00pm, MRSEC NSF Site Visit (Save the date, specific student expectation coming soon)
