Hi! My name is Lizzy Ademski, and I teach 8th Grade Science at Henry Middle School in Leander ISD. I just finished my 5th year teaching, and I have taught 7th and 8th grade science in both Austin, Texas and
Denver, Colorado.

My undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology. Much of my undergraduate research is focused on Environmental Microbiology. In 2016 I participated in an internship where I studied the microbiomes of Sarracenia flava (pitcher plants) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Shank Lab of Microbiology under Dr. Nikolas Stasulli.

After graduating St. Edward’s University in 2017, I worked for a clinical trials lab testing antimicrobial products (hand sanitizers, soaps, etc.). I then transferred to a larger clinical trials company where I worked as a validation analyst for drug product analysis such as Narcan and allergy medications.

After 2 years of working in the industry, I found I missed teaching from my experiences as a TA for General Chemistry and 10 years of coaching summer basketball. I decided to make the switch to teaching and coaching through an alternative certification program. I have enjoyed coaching basketball and volleyball while teaching middle school science, and I am very excited to be part of the RET 2024 cohort!
