Partipilo Headshot

Graduate Research Assistant, Chemical Engineering, IRG 1

As a graduate student in the Keitz Group, I explore the versatile applications of microbial metabolism. I investigate extracellular electron transfer to metals by the model electrogen Shewanella oneidensis and how this process can be engineered to perform microbial redox catalysis. By employing techniques in synthetic biology and genetic engineering, we aim to create whole-cell smart biocatalysts with the autonomy and responsiveness of biocatalysts and the increased substrate scope and modularity of chemical catalysis.
