Professor, Chemical Engineering & Biomedical Engineering, UT Austin
Faculty Investigator, IRG 1
Prof. Jeanne Stachowiak received a Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008. She has served as a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin since January 2012, where she was promoted to Professor in 2023. She is jointly appointed between the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. Through quantitative molecular-scale measurements and the design of biomimetic materials, research in the Stachowiak Lab aims to elucidate the physical basis of cellular membrane organization and to design biologically-inspired materials and systems for biomedical applications. In 2022 Prof. Stachowiak was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. She currently serves on the Editorial Boards of the Biophysical Journal and Science Advances.
